Welcome to Cardiovascular Pharmacology Concepts
Richard E. Klabunde, Ph.D.
Cardiovascular Pharmacology Concepts is written primarily for students, teachers, and health professionals, and describes drugs that are used in the treatment of cardiovascular disease. The content emphasizes the biophysical, biochemical, and cellular basis for drug therapy. My desire in publishing this website is to provide the reader with a thorough understanding of not only general pharmacologic principles and mechanisms of action of cardiovascular drugs, but with an understanding of the rationale for drug use.
The content of this site can be accessed by several routes using the navigation links. Searches can be conducted by clicking on the links that organize the content by clinical disorders, drug therapeutic classes, and drug class mechanisms. A Search link permits searching for individual keywords. Finally, the Guided Learning link provides users with the opportunity to learn about cardiovascular drugs and their therapeutic use in a logical sequence, much like in a classroom course.
This website is a companion site to www.cvphysiology.com, which has been a valuable resource for cardiovascular physiology since it was first published on the web in 1999. Therefore, there are many cross-links between www.cvpharmacology.com and www.cvphysiology.com that are useful in reinforcing both physiologic and pharmacologic concepts.
